What to put in your message
A few specifics let your placement advisor start searching instead of sending follow-up questions. Send whatever you have; partial details are fine.
- Your Gonzaga program: MSN FNP, MSN PMHNP, Second MSN, Post-Master's DNP, or a current Post-Baccalaureate DNP, Nursing Leadership or BSN plan.

Questions that belong with Gonzaga
Some answers only Gonzaga can give, and asking the right office saves time. Site request deadlines, the student compliance checklist and fall-through procedures sit in the Graduate Nursing Student Handbook, which is not public. Approval decisions rest with course faculty, and the Clinical Placement Team handles affiliation agreements and clearance.

Bring everything about the search itself to us: who might precept you, whether a candidate fits Gonzaga's criteria, what your request should include and how to move before a term starts. When a question touches both sides, such as whether a site already holds an agreement with Gonzaga, we tell you exactly what to ask the team and in what order.
Already have a preceptor in mind?
Send the practice name and the provider type, and we check the fit against Gonzaga's rules before you submit: the right specialty for the course, a license in your state, national certification, a year in the clinical area, and no supervisory or family tie to you. For FNP students, we also check how the preceptor affects the nurse practitioner share of your hours.
If the fit is good, we help you assemble the request. If something is missing, you find out now instead of after a faculty review. See Gonzaga preceptor requirements for the full criteria. If you have the preceptor's credentials, include the license state and certifying body; if not, the practice name is enough for a first look.
How we handle your details
We use what you send to reply to you and to run your preceptor search. When we share details with a prospective preceptor or clinical site, we limit them to what that clinician needs to consider you: your program, course, term and goals. Details go to a clinic only as part of a placement search you have asked us to run.
You can ask us to update or delete your information at any time through this form or the chat. The privacy policy explains the tools this site uses and how long records are kept. Keep a first message to the placement basics; documents such as your CV can follow once a search is under way, and your placement advisor tells you which ones help.
If your term is close
Say so in the first line. If your practicum has already started, or the next term begins within weeks, pick the matching timing option in the form and name the course and start date in the message box. Urgent searches move to the front, and your advisor replies with what can realistically happen before the semester opens. A preceptor who left mid-term counts as urgent too, so mention the date they left and your hours to date.

Questions Gonzaga students ask
How soon will I hear back?
Your placement advisor replies to every message, and students whose term starts soon are answered first. Put your term, practicum course and licensed state in the first message, so the reply can go straight to next steps and skip the back-and-forth.
Can I reach out before I start clinicals?
Yes, and planning early helps. MSN students reach their first clinical course, NURS 601, in the second year of the program. We can talk through what each practicum will need and when to start looking. See your first clinical course.
Can we talk by phone?
Start with the form on this page or the chat button. Your placement advisor can set up a call when a conversation is the faster way forward, for example when your schedule, travel limits and course sequence all need sorting at once.
Do you work with DNP students?
Yes. Post-Master's DNP students establish a practicum site and an agency liaison for their project hours, starting in NURS 700. Tell us your project area and state, and we look for a setting and a liaison who fit Gonzaga's agency liaison checklist.
Can clinics or preceptors contact you?
Yes. Choose the preceptor option in the form and tell us your specialty, your state and the terms you have room for. You can read what Gonzaga asks of preceptors, and what it offers them, on our preceptor page. Your advisor replies with the Gonzaga students whose course and timing may suit your clinic.
