What shapes the cost of your Gonzaga placement
Every quote is built for one student and one plan, so the figure comes after we hear about your program, your practicum course, your state and your timing. How a quote is put together
We price the work your placement actually needs. A 60-hour NURS 601 practicum with a primary care preceptor near a city is a different search from a year of psychiatric rotations in a rural county, and the quote reflects that difference. Your placement advisor asks a few questions, confirms the courses you want covered, and sends a written quote before any search begins.
You choose the scope. Some students want one course placed; others want a plan that runs from their first practicum through the last, with the same advisor watching the calendar. Both are common, and both are quoted up front. If your plan shifts, for example because you slow your progression plan, your advisor revisits the quote with you.
The factors that move a quote
- Program and track. FNP courses call for primary care across the lifespan, with at least half of the hours beside a nurse practitioner. PMHNP courses call for qualified mental health professionals. DNP work calls for a project setting and an agency liaison.
- How many courses you want covered. One practicum, a full year, or the whole sequence from
NURS 601onward. - Your state and setting. Metro areas and rural counties search differently, and some states add steps, such as California's BRN preceptor rules or Alaska's per-student preceptorship registration.
- Timing. A search that starts a full term ahead has more options than one that starts after the semester opens.
- Preceptor mix. States that require an MD or NP preceptor, and courses that need two preceptors to reach the hours, both shape the work.
- Site extras. Some units ask for more, such as Idaho Health and Welfare fingerprinting for behavioral health units at Kootenai Health.

Costs Gonzaga sets, separate from ours
Your Gonzaga budget has its own lines, and none of them is part of our quote. Gonzaga publishes per-credit tuition for the online MSN, a per-semester program fee for the FNP, PMHNP and DNP programs, and a course fee on each NP practicum course. The current figures are on Gonzaga's tuition and fees page for online graduate programs and in the course offerings in ZagWeb.
Travel is the other line. Gonzaga's FAQ asks students to budget for their own transportation to clinical sites, and every FNP and PMHNP student travels to Spokane for on-campus immersions. Students outside Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana add an extra Spokane day in each practicum course for the faculty site visit, so fold that trip into the plan. Clearance items such as the background check and drug screen are ordered through CastleBranch, or CORE if your cohort has moved.

Ways to keep your quote lean
A few choices on your side make the search simpler, and a simpler search shows up in the quote.
- Start a term ahead, before the rush for spring and fall practicums
- Give a realistic travel radius, since a wider circle opens more clinics
- Share any leads you have, even a clinic you knew as an RN
- Offer the days you can truly keep, since Gonzaga expects students to fit the preceptor's schedule
- Plan the whole sequence at once when you can, so each search builds on the last
- Say early if a course may need a second preceptor to reach its hours, so both are found together

Getting your quote
Use the form below with your program, your next practicum course, your city and licensed state, and the term you are planning for. Your placement advisor replies with a few questions, then a written quote that lists the courses covered and everything included.
If your first practicum is NURS 601 next year, now is a good time to ask. If you are already inside a term without a preceptor, say so up front, and your advisor sets the plan around what the calendar still allows, including Gonzaga's extension courses where they apply. Current Post-Baccalaureate DNP and Nursing Leadership students, and BSN students planning a final practicum, are quoted the same way, around the course in front of them.
Questions Gonzaga students ask
Why is there no price list on this site?
Because two Gonzaga placements are rarely the same job. A Spokane NURS 601 search and a PMHNP plan in rural Alaska differ in time, contacts and state steps. A quote written for your program, courses, state and timing is fairer than a posted number that fits nobody exactly.
Is the quote per course or for the whole program?
Either. You can ask for one practicum, a year of courses, or every course from your first clinical to your last. The quote names exactly which courses and terms it covers, so there is no guessing later about what is included and what would be a new request.
Does starting late change the quote?
Timing is one of the factors. A late start narrows the pool, adds urgency to a health system's onboarding steps and leaves less room before Gonzaga's approval and CPNW clearance. Starting a term ahead is the simplest way to keep the search, and the quote, straightforward. See need a preceptor fast.
Does your quote include Gonzaga's course fees?
Gonzaga bills its own tuition, per-semester program fees and practicum course fees directly. Our quote covers the placement service: the search, the matching and the request paperwork. What happens to my plan if a preceptor leaves?
