A Missouri nurse's guide to Gonzaga's programs
Gonzaga's disclosures rate its nurse practitioner MSN "Meets" for Missouri, but that rating concerns licensure, not admission: the FNP and PMHNP tracks enroll only residents of ten western states. From Missouri, the online Post-Master's DNP is the Gonzaga option to explore, with your eligibility confirmed by Gonzaga before any application.

"Meets" is not the same as admitted
Missouri sits in the large group of states Gonzaga's disclosure table marks "Meets" with no added note. Two of its neighbors fare differently: Kansas and Tennessee are marked "Does not meet" and limited to MSN Nursing Leadership and Post-Master's DNP admittance. For a Missouri address the NP tracks stay closed regardless, since residence in the West is an admission requirement.

The DNP practicum runs to 1,000 hours counting those from your MSN, with at least 340 inside the doctorate; Gonzaga individualizes the figure and asks for a verification form at admission. The DNP practicum courses lay out the sequence.
Collaborative practice for a whole career
AANP rates Missouri restricted. Every Missouri NP practices under a collaborative arrangement with a physician from first license onward, and the state layers on ratio limits, chart review requirements and controlled-substance restrictions. For a DNP student already working as an NP in Missouri, that framework shapes daily practice and may shape the practice gap a project sets out to close.
The Missouri State Board of Nursing licenses nurses. The compact statute sits at RSMo 335.360 et seq., in force since July 20, 2017, and Missouri's implementation date was January 19, 2018, so a multistate license from Missouri already works in the other compact states.
Rules for schools based elsewhere
Look through Missouri's nursing rules and you will find no approval or notice requirement aimed at schools from other states. Chapter 20 CSR 2200-2 deals with programs the Board itself approves. RSMo 335.081(6)(a) allows supervised student practice without a Missouri license for anyone enrolled in an approved school of nursing, and it stays silent on schools from elsewhere, so Gonzaga is the one to confirm how that reads for a project.
RSMo 135.690 creates a tax credit for community-based faculty preceptors, but only physicians and PAs holding Missouri licenses qualify, and only when they teach students from Missouri medical or PA programs. Nurse practitioners, APRNs and nursing students sit outside it.
St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield and Columbia
Missouri's major systems include BJC HealthCare and SSM Health, Mercy, CoxHealth, and MU Health Care, and Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) covers public health statewide. The St. Louis metro's Missouri counties hold about 2.1 million people and Kansas City's Missouri side about 1.3 million, with Springfield near 501,000 and Columbia near 219,000. They are examples of where a project could live, and Gonzaga's faculty approve whichever setting you propose.

If an NP track is the goal, relocation comes before the application. After the move you license through the new state and complete practicums there; a Missouri multistate license rests on Missouri residence, so the new home state's board is the place to start. Questions Gonzaga students ask
Does Gonzaga accept FNP students from St. Louis or Kansas City?
Not while they live in Missouri. Gonzaga's FNP and PMHNP tracks, the Second MSN included, admit residents of the ten western states only. Missouri shows "Meets" on the disclosure table, meaning the program meets licensure requirements there, but the residency rule still decides admission. Living on the Kansas side changes nothing, since Kansas is outside the ten as well.
Could my Missouri collaborating physician serve as my DNP agency liaison?
Only if the relationship fits Gonzaga's checklist. The liaison confirms there is no family, friendship or direct reporting tie with you, accepts at least three contacts a semester and completes an end-of-course evaluation, and the project must sit outside your own area of practice. Whether a collaborating physician counts as a supervisor is a question for your course faculty.
Does Missouri's preceptor tax credit apply to a Gonzaga student's liaison?
No. The credit under RSMo 135.690 is limited to uncompensated preceptors who are Missouri-licensed physicians or PAs teaching students from Missouri medical or PA programs. Nurse practitioners, APRNs and nursing students are excluded, and a liaison role for a doctoral student from an out-of-state school falls outside the statute.
Is Missouri board approval needed before my DNP project starts?
Missouri's rules set out no approval or notice requirement for schools from other states, and the student exemption in RSMo 335.081 speaks only of approved schools. You hold a Missouri license already, so what remains is an institutional question, and Gonzaga is the party to answer it before the project begins.
