Which Gonzaga programs fit an Illinois address
Gonzaga's FNP and PMHNP master's tracks, and the Second MSN, take applicants living in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, California, Nevada, Utah, Alaska, Wyoming or Arizona, and every NP practicum follows the student's license. Illinois is not on that list. The Post-Master's DNP pages carry no residency limit, which makes the doctorate the program to ask about from Chicago, Peoria or Rockford. The doctorate from Illinois: project hours instead of patient visits
The Post-Master's DNP is online and open to nurses whose master's in nursing led to work as a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist or nurse-midwife, or into leadership. Its practicum is indirect care: time on your DNP project inside an organization, guided by an agency liaison with no family tie, friendship or reporting line to you. Hours from your master's program count toward the 1,000 Gonzaga requires, while no fewer than 340 come from the DNP itself.

Illinois nursing law that touches a DNP practicum
The Illinois Board of Nursing works inside IDFPR. Illinois has stayed out of the Nurse Licensure Compact, and the compact map shows no bill pending, so an out-of-state multistate license earns nothing here. AANP places Illinois in its reduced-practice group, since many Illinois NPs still work under a physician collaboration agreement.
Outside schools face section 1300.340(n) of the Illinois nursing rules: a program wanting student clinical placements files home-state approval, the syllabus, a signed facility contract and faculty and preceptor forms, among other items, for a two-year approval. That section belongs to the RN program rules and says nothing about graduate study.
Illinois's placement rule is written for RN programs and leaves graduate study unclear. Ask Gonzaga how it treats Illinois before an organization commits to your project.
Chicago to Peoria: organizations where a project could run
UChicago Medicine, OSF HealthCare, Northwestern Medicine, Endeavor Health and Advocate Health Care are among the larger systems, and the Illinois Department of Public Health works statewide. Outside Chicago, the Peoria metro counts 363,505 people, Rockford 337,242, and the St. Louis metro reaches 671,953 Illinois residents. These are examples of settings, not organizations with any Gonzaga arrangement.
Illinois rewards precepting at renewal: an APRN earns ten continuing education hours per semester or quarter spent teaching an APRN student, capped at thirty, with the school's paperwork.
Planning a move west before an NP application
An FNP or PMHNP application needs a home in one of the ten states first. Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Washington and Wyoming belong to the compact; Alaska, California, Nevada and Oregon do not.
